Welcome to the official page of PRK Productions or Parvathamma Rajkumar Productions founded by Dr. Puneeth Rajkumar & Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar to contribute meaningfully to the Kannada Film Industry by not only paying reverence to the paths laid by legends but also by paving the way for new talent, so that in unison these wings will continue to carve a niche for the Kannada Film Industry in the vast horizon.
The Rajkumar legacy that began in 1954 has been firmly etched in the hearts and minds of all Kannadigas and lovers of Kannada art and culture across the globe.
We started PRK productions in 2016 and Puneeth ensured that I was involved in every aspect of the functioning right from the time he thought of it. We named it after Parvathamma Rajkumar (PRK) which incidentally is also the acronym of my husband’s name Puneeth Rajkumar.
Dr. Puneeth Rajkumar – “In many ways Amma is the steadfast pillar who has stood behind Appaji from the beginning, and the support system of the family. She is his true partner, who managed our big family, his stardom, our company and innumerable other significant things with effortless grace and equanimity.”
Puneeth was a baby of just 25 days when his mother started her production company and he was made to switch on the camera for their first production Trimurthi, so Amma’s foray as a full-fledged producer and Puneeth’s birth and breath being dedicated to the Kannada Film Industry go hand in hand.
The legacy that Amma created in the Kannada film industry with a production array of 93 movies of which 95% are massive hits is one of the biggest success stories in the Indian film industry.
Puneeth was breathing cinemas right from childhood, not merely by switching on the camera when he was a few months old but also as a child actor right then and further as a person who understood and brought about production equipment from across the world, as one who was also integrally involved in the day to day functioning of their production house of Vajreshwari Combines and also their distribution aspects.
He took the natural step to dedicate his life to the Kannada film industry in a more fulfilling manner just like his mother and hence initiated, nourished and nurtured PRK and set up a team so that we could responsibly channel our energies and ideas to taking Kannada films in the direction which he felt was much needed and in tune with the audiences demands across the world.
Having been with him for two decades plus, I had latently imbibed his vision and path and was thus able to add to his outlook and we commissioned projects that touched a chord in us.
We had also realised the extreme difficulty that people new to the industry had to suffer to even take a plunge into the filmmaking profession and hence were keen on introducing new talent and providing a platform of equal footing for budding artists, directors, technicians and the rest.
PRK was his way of reaching out and creating a bridge that would take the glorious tradition of Vajreshwari Combines and his parents’ equally extreme dedication to the Kannada film industry forward and that is the line that I want to toe.
